Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Antwerp are set to welcome back Jelle Bataille from injury. The 25-year-old full-back has been out of action since going off injured in December’s clash with Genk. The former Oostende man suffered a torn hamstring tendon and has missed 11 games in the process. Bataille is primarily a right-back but he is able to play at left-back when required, giving Antwerp some versatility at the back.

Since Bataille has been out, the side have parted ways with Jonas De Roeck. Despite securing a top six finish for the side, the former Westerlo head coach was sacked after an indifferent series of results. Prior to his injury, Bataille had been a key player for De Roeck and Antwerp in the league. While he has yet to score or provide an assist this season, the defender has played well in his 18 appearances. Bataille is in his fourth season with the club, having joined from Oostende in 2021. He has helped them win the cup and league during his time there.
