Corriere dello Sport reports that Borussia Dortmund have reached a basic agreement with Nicolò Tresoldi’s camp over a transfer, and that Atlético Madrid have similarly settled the financial parameters of a potential contract.
Dortmund are waiting for the right moment to open talks with Club Brugge for the German U-21 youth international.
His 23 goals and nine assists in 58 games for Brugge had looked likely to earn him a move to AS Roma. The Italian-born striker is keen on joining the Serie A club, though Roma would need to prioritise other business before making any offer.
A departure for Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy could yet clear the path for Tresoldi. Should the 30-year-old leave, perhaps to Fenerbahce, BVB want to be ready and have tracked Tresoldi for some time.
Alternative centre-forward options under consideration include Fisnik Asllani of TSG Hoffenheim and Randal Kolo Muani of Paris Saint-Germain.
