Borussia Dortmund travel to the Parken Stadium on Tuesday night to face FC Copenhagen in what promises to be another captivating UEFA Champions League encounter.
The Danish team are still searching for their maiden win in this season’s competition. At the same time, the visitors arrive determined to extend their unbeaten run in Europe and strengthen their position in the group.
Dortmund boss Niko Kovac will once again be without captain Emre Can, who continues his recovery from a persistent groin injury. Youngster Julien Duranville also remains sidelined, with the winger recovering from shoulder surgery undergone back in July.
Leading the line for the German club should be Serhou Guirassy, who has made a flying start to the Champions League campaign. The Guinean forward has already netted 16 goals in his first 20 appearances in the competition. Kovac has hailed him as Dortmund’s “life insurance,” praising his reliability and clinical touch in front of goal.
Karim Adeyemi has also been a standout performer in recent weeks. The pacey attacker’s thunderous strike against Wolfsburg – clocked at 126 km/h – has been the hardest hit in the Bundesliga so far. Sporting director Sebastian Kehl heaped praise on him, stating: “Right now, this is probably the best version of Karim Adeyemi we’ve seen at Borussia Dortmund.”
Possible Borussia Dortmund starting XI: Kobel; Anton, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Ryerson, Nmecha, Sabitzer, Svensson; Brandt, Adeyemi; Guirassy.
The match will kick off at 8pm BST on Tuesday 21st October.
