Borussia Mönchengladbach loan approach rejected for Bayern Munich star Paul Wanner | OneFootball

With uncertainty swirling about Paul Wanner’s future at Bayern Munich, there have been no shortage of potential suitors for the exciting midfielder.

One of those suitors who will not be acquiring the Austrian-German’s signature this summer, however, is Borussia Mönchengladbach. As kicker reports, a move to Borussia-Park is off the table, with the Foals’ approach for a loan deal being rejected by the Bundesliga holders. A permanent transfer is out of the question too as Gladbach lack the financial means.

It’s no secret, that Wanner wants regular football, having enjoyed fruitful loan spells at Elversberg two seasons ago, and at Heidenheim last campaign. Although Bayern’s board member for sport Max Eberl has indicated Wanner has a “huge opportunity” for playing time -following Thomas Müllers switch to Vancouver Whitecaps and with Jamal Musiala expected to be sidelined until the end of the year – Wanner remains not fully convinced of his role within Bayern’s project.

Both Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven and fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen are known to be in the race for the attacking-midfielder. Bremen is a particularly interesting potential destination for the youngster given that Horst Steffen, who was Wanner’s coach at Elversberg, has assumed the managerial reigns for the 2025/26 season.
