Nat Seaton:

‘Another clean sheet away from home against a team who have started the season well, forget the idea that it’s ‘only’ Bournemouth, they are a good team.

Not the best of games to watch, can’t imagine what the goal xg was today but on another day we would/should have had a penalty.

Great to see Botman back and doing well, Thiaw a good full debut and Lewis Hall getting a full 90 minutes for the first time in months, better things to come from him for sure.

Some positives to take forward and hopefully come Arsenal next Sunday we have benefitted from the changes made today.’

Jamie Smith:

‘A graphic came up at the end saying Newcastle’s expected goals were 0.14. Absolutely desperate stuff and if I was pressed I’d have to say Leeds the other week was a slightly easier watch, which seems incredible the way I felt after that one.

Defensively looking sound, although a couple of interventions from Nick Pope were necessary.

Still early on, the presence of Wissa feels like it would have made a real difference in these opening weeks and the hope continues that it’s going to click as it has so many times in the past after slow starts.’

GToon:

‘Decent point and a hard shift put in by the lads.

There was nowt in the game until the ref suddenly decided to award them a series of free-kicks in dangerous places for absolutely nothing.

That’s after a clear shirt pull on Nick in the box goes unpunished.

Any other club and that’s a penalty.

Credit to Eddie for rotating the squad and with the changes made, perhaps it shows that we have strength in depth now.

Not sure what Willock was doing today though. Suppose that’s why we bought Ramsey.’

Billy Miller:

‘Unbeaten on the road with no goals conceded.

By the same token, we’re yet to win or score away from home either.

Bournemouth are a team we get little change out of so this wasn’t a bad result.

Woltemade looks quality with his link up play but is still coming to terms with the physicality of the Premier League.

When he fully clicks with the team I can see him being an exceptional addition.’

Matt Busby said…:

‘Expected goals tells the real story….

Another defensive masterclass from the lads with our third consecutive clean sheet on the road, but my word, don’t we look toothless up top?

I think we should have been awarded a penalty for the foul on Woltemade, whilst Thiaw was very lucky not to see red. No wonder Eddie brought on Jamaal Lascelles to see the game out.

Pope with another big save from Kluivert’s free kick right at the death. Priceless.

Bradford, Arsenal and Union St Gilloise in the next ten days. Isn’t it a great time to be a fan of Newcastle United?’

Tony Mallabar:

‘Well that’s back on the train for our journey back home.

This time last year we got Well beaten off Fulham away and I was very critical of Eddie and our management structure.

A year on, we’ve got a shiny pot and champions league football in the bag.

Today was my 7th trip to Bournemouth to support us and still no victory.

But the difference between this year and last, is I can see the bigger picture.

Yes it was disappointing to lose Isak. But we are heading boardly in the right direction.’

David Punton:

‘From Barcelona to Bournemouth and an early season test of our squad depth.

The manager opting for seven changes to the team and a switch to a back five. He will argue that that was necessary after Thursday night.

The changes in defence I agree with but the midfield really needed to be at full strength.

We didn’t create enough and neither side played well.

There was a huge moment on the penalty call that was waved away. You’ve seen them given elsewhere.

The tiny Vitality Stadium has become a bit of a bogey ground for us. No win here since the 19/20 season when we were managed by Steve Bruce.

Taking the positives, it was a clean sheet and a point on the road amid a vastly changed starting eleven.

the reality of managing load now the Champions League campaign is underway. European football both a blessing and a curse.’
