Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has revealed that he wanted to stay at Juventus for the foreseeable future.
Speaking in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via Calcio Mercato, Huijsen reflected on his time at Juventus and said that he was not looking forward to leaving the club soon. The 19-year-old’s words made it clear that it was internal pressures from the Bianconeri that made him leave the club. He remarked: “Honestly, I never wanted to leave Juventus, it wasn’t my choice. During the first days of preparation at Continassa, the management and Thiago Motta told me that they needed to raise money by selling me and that I would have to find a solution.”
Huijsen acknowledged former Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto’s efforts of bringing him to the Giallorossi on loan and then guiding him to join Bournemouth after he became the Managing Director of Professional Football there. The Spanish international said: “The sporting director Tiago Pinto had already signed me on loan to Roma last January and in the summer he convinced me to join him here by explaining Bournemouth’s ambitious project. Everything he told me in July is happening.”
Despite his sudden arrival to the Premier League, Huijsen claimed that he has no plans to return to the Serie A now and that playing for The Cherries is satisfactory. He said: “It wasn’t my decision, but I have no regrets: every day I’m more satisfied with my adventure at Bournemouth. I don’t regret it, on the contrary… I’m happier and happier at Bournemouth.”
