Red Bull Bragantino sporting director Diego Cerri has set out the club’s interest in Wallace Yan as negotiations with Flamengo continue.

"He is an interesting player, he fits the Red Bull profile with his age, and he has already played. He scored seven goals for Flamengo last year, important goals, then his form dipped. If you look at it, we have brought in several players like that in recent years and some have developed and succeeded," he told ESPN.

Bragantino initially proposed a fixed fee for the forward. The club then shifted to a package split between a fixed sum and performance-related targets, prompting Flamengo to step back. Flamengo also sought a sell-on clause, which the São Paulo side did not accept.

Wallace Yan has had limited minutes under Filipe Luís and views a move positively. On 14 January, after defeat to Bangu, he made an emotional farewell, though Flamengo felt it was premature because no agreement had been signed.

He broke into the first team in 2024, making 37 appearances with seven goals and five assists.

He has been part of two successful seasons at the club, winning the Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil, Libertadores, Campeonato Carioca and Supercopa do Brasil.

Flamengo are back in action on Saturday against Sampaio Corrêa in the sixth round of the Campeonato Carioca, with kick-off at 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã. The club are in a delicate position in the state competition.
