Gabriel Brazão trained with Santos on Thursday and is expected to decide on Friday whether to travel to Salvador for the Bahia match.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the goalkeeper rejoined after three days’ compassionate leave following his father’s death. Diógenes started the 0-0 Copa do Brasil draw with Coritiba at Vila Belmiro on Wednesday.
Cuca’s side have a final session on Friday morning at CT Rei Pelé, then travel for Saturday’s 18:30 kick-off at Arena Fonte Nova in the 13th round of the Brasileirão. The Football Department has left Brazão to judge his mental readiness. If he feels able, he travels, otherwise he remains at the training ground with other absentees.
Assistant coach Vinicius Marques is expected to work with the non-travelling group, which includes right-back Igor Vinicius, midfielder Gustavo Henrique, who will still undergo tests, and forward Gabriel Barbosa, all suspended after a third yellow card. Neymar Jr will be rested by the staff.
Brazão has been first choice since 2024 after João Paulo’s injury, with Diógenes covering when he served a ban against Ituano in Série B. In 2025 he left the Atlético-MG game after a head clash, and the deputy also featured in friendlies against Coritiba and Leipzig last year.
A dressing-room leader at 25, Brazão has worn the captain’s armband and is contracted to Santos until the end of 2028.
