Florian Plettenberg’s Tweet about Nicolas Jackson.

Jackson’s situation has turned around at amazing speed. After two years as Chelsea’s undisputed main striker, he now finds himself effectively up for sale. Newcastle and Manchester United have already been strongly linked, now it seems Bayern are getting into the fray.

Plettenberg says that the German giants have “made enquiries” about Jackson in the past few hours, and have “gathered information on his current status, price and conditions [of a potential deal].”

He describes the striker as “on the verge of leaving Chelsea,” with the Blues valuation at €65m.

We’d say that’s going a little too far. There’s a lot of interest now and a departure is growing more likely by the day, but we’d still consider there a decent chance that he stays put.

As for the price – there’s no way Chelsea should be selling for just €65m. There’s so much interest in Jackson, and a market starved of proven Premier League goalscorers. When Benjamin Sesko is going for €90m, Jackson shouldn’t be far off.

Chelsea could profit hugely from Bayern intervention

Whether or not Bayern actually end up signing Jackson, this level of serious interest from a big team can only work out well for Chelsea. We have no need to sell the Senegal star, and actually could do well keeping him, but the potential bidding war developing here could suit us nicely.

For once, Chelsea stand to stand to benefit from the striker merry go round.
