After the loss of Dennis Seimen to injury, Fabian Bredlow says he feels prepared to step into VfB Stuttgart's void between the goalposts.

“It's been turbulent, I've read a lot about myself. But right now, I'm best advised to give it my all in the friendlies and training," Bredlow told BILD.

“I need to show that there's no need for any changes. In the end, the club decides, but I'm confident I'll play,” he added.

With Seimen ruled out until October, Bredlow is keen to start the season opener against Bayern Munich but knows nothing is guaranteed.

“The current situation is that we have to see how Dennis's injury develops. The club is, of course, also obligated to explore the market.

"That was my understanding last time. The club was transparent – they said they were looking at the market [for a replacement].

“But that was a few days ago, so I don't know how things have developed [in their transfer market searches] in the last few days.

“Every player wants to be told on the first day of pre-season training that he will play on the first matchday [of the Bundesliga].

“But the coach can't give you those guarantees, that's a fact,” added Bredlow, after Wednesday's 8-1 friendly win over Kickers Offenbach.
