Breel Embolo left out of Monaco squad amid transfer talks | OneFootball

AS Monaco get their Ligue 1 campaign underway today against Le Havre AC, however, one player that won’t be taking part is Breel Embolo (28). The Swiss international has been left out of the matchday squad.

Embolo has just one year remaining on his deal at Monaco and the Principality club have not made any steps to extend that deal. He will be allowed to leave the club this summer, even if Monaco are not exactly desperate to offload and the player himself is still happy at the club.

A Uruguay international as a replacement?

However, according to a report from Foot Mercato, the reason for Embolo’s absence from the matchday squad today is attributed to talks with another club. Whilst the identity of the club in question has not been revealed, the publication adds that the centre-forward is attracting interest from several clubs in Qatar.

Earlier this week, L’Équipe said that, in the event of Embolo’s departure from the club, Monaco may turn to EC Bahia’s Luciano Rodriguez. The Uruguay international has 10 goals in 40 games this season in all competitions.
