Brentford Under-18s came from behind to beat Crewe Alexandra Under-18s 3-1 at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre this afternoon.

Gary McDermott's side made it three wins on the bounce and back-to-back victories in the Professional Development League thanks to goals from Coran Madden, Nathaniel Ogungbemi and Naeem Giscombe.

Crewe had the first chance of the game breaking on transition ten minutes in, but Ffranc Vaughan-Evans curled his effort over the bar after cutting in off the left.

The Railwaymen then took the lead on 20 minutes, a clipped free kick turned in at the back post by Billy Baker.

The young Bees responded in superb fashion and five minutes later they had the leveller. Staitham Bowen flashed a ball across the box after Micaiah Fanoiki's long throw and Madden turned home for his first goal in red and white.

McDermott's side turned the game on it's head in rapid fashion and had the lead when full-back Nathaniel Ogungbemi tapped home Jai Bansoodeb's low cross after an excellent team move to make it 2-1 on 28 minutes.

Brentford were denied a third on 39 minutes when Crewe keeper Dominic James did magnificently to get fingertips on Domeiro Bobb-Semple's bending effort and turn it over the crossbar.

Bobb-Semple went close again on the stroke of the interval, improvising his finish from Giscombe's cross but not getting enough contact on it to turn home and the half-time whistle came.

Three minutes after the restart and the Bees had their third when Giscombe tucked his strike home after clever work on the edge of the box from Bansoodeb and Bobb-Semple who eventually set the winger free on the right hand side of the penalty area.

Layton Nicholls made a great save on 66 minutes, flicking Isaac Irwin's header from close range over the bar, before Yerime Ouatarra drew a brilliant low save from the Crewe goalkeeper minutes later.

Jai Nwosu made his debut for the Under-18s, replacing goalscorer Madden on 73 minutes.

McDermott's side had chances to make it more; Bobb-Semple hit the side netting and skipper Aidan Golding's headed effort was parried to Beau Redknapp who grazed the crossbar in the final ten minutes.

Nicholls then made the save of the match, and potentially the season, blocking a powerful strike from close range with a strong right arm to protect the two goal advantage and the game ended 3-1.

Three wins on the bounce for the young Bees who next face Oxford United Under-17s in the U17 Professional Development League Cup on Tuesday 16 September.
