First-team trio Paris Maghoma, Aaron Hickey and Yunus Emre Konak all featured as Brentford Under-21s claimed a 3-0 win over Barnsley at Gtech Community Stadium on Monday afternoon, with Maghoma getting on the scoresheet in the Professional Development League clash.

Romelle Donovan grabbed a brace in a victory that sealed the west Londoners' place in the Professional Development League play-offs.

Neil MacFarlane's side ended their first season back in the PDL joint-top of the south section table alongside Bournemouth with goal difference favouring the Cherries.

Ethan Brierley whipped a great delivery into the box for Iwan Morgan but the striker's shot was saved well by Josh Shattle in the Barnsley net.

Brentford opened the scoring soon after that chance as Donovan was in the right place at the right time to place home from a Riley Owen cross into the box.

It was complete domination from the Bees as further opportunities for Donovan and Morgan followed, drawing good saves from the Tykes' goalkeeper.

On 44 minutes, the lead was doubled and deservedly so, after Barnsley were camped in their half for most of the first period. A fantastic long ball from Hickey found Maghoma, who coolly lobbed the keeper.

Donovan grabbed his second of the game with a great run which ended in an emphatic finish as he fired into the top corner.

He had two quick opportunities to get his hat-trick. The first was saved well by Shattle and the second was blocked on the line by Ziggy Kozluk.

Maghoma had a chance to get his second but the midfielder could not connect with the ball after his mazy run and attempted strike.

On the stroke of the full-time whistle, Kozluk was sent off with a straight red card for an unsportsmanlike act towards Trialist A.

That was how the game would end as the young Bees ensured they would join Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Burnley in the PDL play-offs.

Brentford end the league season joint-top of the table with Bournemouth, finishing with 21 wins, four draws and six losses after 31 games.
