Derby County have secured the signing of Rhian Brewster on a two-year deal after the striker declined a contract extension with Sheffield United.

The 25-year-old was once the Blades’ record signing, arriving from Liverpool in October 2020 for £23.5m.

Brewster struggled to find consistent form during his time at Bramall Lane, registering just nine goals in 119 outings across all competitions - a period heavily impacted by injuries.

Half of his eight league strikes for the club came last season in the Championship.

The ex-England Under-21 forward becomes Derby’s third attacking addition of the summer, following the arrivals of Carlton Morris and American striker Patrick Agyemang.

After rejecting the chance to remain with a Sheffield United squad that came within a single win of Premier League promotion — falling short in the play-off final against Sunderland - Brewster said the decision to join Derby, who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day, was clear-cut.

"I feel this is a big opportunity for me – and one I had to grab with two hands," he told Derby County's website.

"For me, the project that [head coach] John Eustace has set out, for me, was a no-brainer to be involved with."
