Brighton & Hove Albion won their first game since November against Burnley with Georginio Rutter and Yasin Ayari on the scoresheet.
The Seagulls were always the better team at the Amex and looked like they had taken the lead 10 minutes in when Charalampos Kostoulas smashed an effort past Martin Dúbravka. The Greek had just been offside although it was an excellent finish.
Instead, Brighton went ahead in the 29th minute. Ayari had taken a shot from the edge of the area but his effort was blocked kindly into the path of Rutter who made no mistake.
The lead was doubled with 67 seconds gone into the second half. The Clarets had failed to clear their lines allowing Ayari to sneak in, pick up the ball, and tuck it into the corner.
That's now a 14th defeat in 20 games for Scott Parker's side who remain now six points off of safety after the two teams above them lost but now are just six points off the bottom with Wolves finally getting their first win of the season in the other 3pm kick-off.
Next up for Burnley they will host Manchester United as they look to end an 11-game winless streak. Brighton meanwhile will find it difficult to make it two in a row as they travel to face Manchester City at the Etihad.
