Brighton keen to focus on their football going into West Ham fixture says Vidošić | OneFootball

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić says that his side’s focus will be on playing their own football when they face West Ham United this weekend.

The Seagulls play host to The Hammers at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić said that West Ham United will arrive in Sussex full of confidence after collecting their first league win of the season last weekend but his side’s focus is on their own game.

“Every week is a challenge, you can’t take anyone lightly or take your foot off the pedal for a second,” Vidošić said. “There can be upsets all across the league, everyone makes it tough.

“We know the strengths that they possess and they’ll be full of confidence after getting that first win.

“For us, we want to take them into account but we want to focus on what we are going to do. We always adjust slightly to what we think is best but we will come out, try and play our football and try and dominate the game. We will do what we can to take home another three points.”

Having played at the Emirates Stadium a week ago, Brighton & Hove Albion now have the opportunity to play at their main stadium this weekend. Vidošić says that it is good to see decent crowds being attracted to big stadiums.

He said “We want to play on the big stages like the Emirates in-front of nearly 25,000 [or at the Amex]. That’s the journey, that’s where the whole league wants to go. Every week, people come out, they want to watch and it’s building. The interest is growing rapidly and that’s only a great thing.”

Brighton & Hove Albion were defeated 5-0 by Arsenal last time out. Vidošić said that the players were disappointed after that loss but they are ready to put their learnings into practice this weekend.

He said “Upon reflection, the girls were frustrated with themselves, disappointed perhaps. It probably wasn’t as complicated as they felt on the pitch.

“It’s always a learning curve. When you’re not at it, these teams do punish you. It was a good lesson but it’s not just Arsenal, every team possesses quality, so if we are slightly off physically or mentally, it always has the potential to be a very tough afternoon.

“We are learning a lot. We are still third, so we can’t get too down on ourselves. We still look at the positives [overall] and there were positives from the Arsenal game. There were good lessons to learn and hopefully, we can put in the complete performance on Saturday.”
