Brighton keeper Baggaley receives England call-up as Wubben-Moy withdraws | OneFootball

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley has received a call-up to the England squad for this month’s international friendlies against Brazil and Australia.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Football Association earlier today.

The 28-year-old has been called into the squad to provide further goalkeeping cover. Chelsea keeper Hannah Hampton will miss Saturday’s international friendly against Brazil with a minor injury. She could return to fitness in time for the Australia game.

In other squad news, Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy has withdrawn from the England squad through illness. No further defensive reinforcements have been drafted in. Wubben-Moy is the fourth player to withdraw from Sarina Wiegman’s squad with Katie Reid, Grace Clinton and Jess Park having also returned to their respective clubs.

England face South American champions Brazil at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday evening before taking on Australia at Pride Park in Derby on Tuesday. Both of those matches form part of a four-game ‘Homecoming Series’ which will see the Lionesses’ recent UEFA Women’s EURO win celebrated on home soil. England will also face China and Ghana in the series during the November international window.
