Brighton still in the hunt for Champions League football as Bruno Fernandes eyes place in record books
Manchester United face Brighton to close out their Premier League campaign.
Man United have nothing left to play for this season beyond pride after they confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League some weeks ago.
Bruno Fernandes will be motivated, though, to find a 21st assist of the season and break the record set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
There is more on the line for Brighton, though, as they look to confirm their place in one European competition or other, with a top-eight finish all they will require.
Victory over Liverpool could take them as high as sixth, usurping south coast rivals Bournemouth for their best Premier League finish since 2022/23.
Brighton vs Manchester United is scheduled for a 4pm BST kick-off on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
The match will take place at the Amex Stadium.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Sky Sports Tennis, with coverage starting at 2pm BST ahead of a 4pm kick-off.
Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Sky Go app and website.
Kaoru Mitoma will be the most notable absentee for Brighton after he picked up a fresh thigh injury which has ruled him out of Japan’s World Cup squad.
Mats Wieffer is facing a late fitness test with a foot problem.
Elsewhere, Stefanos Tzimas has been out since December with an ACL injury, and Adam Webster is out for the season with a knee injury of his own.
Man Utd come into this match with close to a clean bill of health. Matthijs de Ligt is one absentee through injury after he underwent surgery on a lower back injury which has kept him sidelined since November.
Benjamin Sesko is set to miss out with a knock to his shin, so Joshua Zirkzee could be set to deputise.
Casemiro will be absent, having already played his final game for the club, while Carrick suggested in his pre-match media duties that he could hand out some debuts to academy talent in this match.
Man United play away on the south coast this weekend, but the truth is they have already been on the beach for some time.
They have been far from their best since clinching a Champions League berth weeks ago, and were fortunate to come through last week’s match against Nottingham Forest with a win.
Brighton have the tantalising prospect of European football still to play for and know a win is all they will need to achieve that. We expect them to do exactly that.
Brighton to win, 3-1.
These two sides have already met twice this season. United won the reverse fixture in the league 4-2 back in October, before the Seagulls got their own back by knocking the side, then managed by Darren Fletcher, out of the FA Cup third round.
Brighton wins: 10
Manchester United wins: 21
Draws: 5
Brighton to win: 4/5
Manchester United to win: 5/2
Draw: 12/5
