Bristol City want to sign Tyrhys Dolan, but face competition from clubs in both Greece and Turkey.
Bristol City are interested in signing out-of-contract Blackburn Rovers winger Tyrhys Dolan, but face stiff competition from clubs in both Greece and Turkey.
The Preston North End academy product spent the last five years at Ewood Park, racking up over 200 appearances for the club in all competitions, but now looks set to embark on a new chapter of his career, after letting his contract run down.
There has been no shortage of speculation as to what the future might hold for Dolan, but a new update on Sunday morning from Alan Nixon via his Patreon page has revealed that his future may lie overseas.
Beaten play-off semi-finalists Bristol City have reportedly made a pitch to the now free-agent winger, but face a battle with unnamed clubs in Greece and Turkey, who are now reportedly set for talks with the wide-man.
It's been a rocky summer so far for the Robins, following a heavy aggregate loss to Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final, after a superb season which deserved a better ending.
Now under the stewardship of Gerhard Struber, following Liam Manning's move to Norwich City, the South West outfit are now looking to build a strong squad once again to compete at the top of the Championship.
This has seen reports emerge on Sunday from Nixon that Bristol City made a pitch to former Blackburn winger Dolan, as they look to get him on board for the forthcoming Championship campaign.
The Robins would have to pay a fee determined by tribunal to the Lancashire outfit if they do sign him, thanks to his age. However, this isn't believed to be the biggest stumbling block in a potential deal for the Bristolian club.
Unnamed clubs in both Turkey and Greece are set for talks with the 23-year-old, Nixon also reported, with the player said to be interested in a spell abroad, in favour of finding a new club in England.
With that in mind, it seems that Struber's side are currently fighting a losing battle to try and tempt Dolan into a move to Ashton Gate.
Despite an excellent season on the pitch, Bristol City lacked firepower up top, with just two players in Anis Mehmeti and Nahki Wells, who has now left the club, notching double figures.
Whilst Dolan certainly isn't the most prolific player on planet earth, and wouldn't directly solve this issue, he would add a new dimension to that Robins attack, which could definitely contribute towards solving City's goalscoring struggles.
However, it seems Struber might have to go back to the drawing board after Sunday's update, as his side are currently facing a losing battle to secure the winger's services.
Dolan's situation is one to keep an eye on throughout the summer, as much speculation came whilst he was still at Blackburn about his future, and it will now be interesting to see if he heads abroad, or opts for another stint in the Championship.
