Brzykcy makes the move to Ashton Gate following a spell in Sweden with Pitea, where she featured regularly and made 25 appearances. Her time in Scandinavia provided valuable senior experience and consistent game time, adding to an already varied footballing journey that has taken her across different leagues and environments.

Lauren Brzycky reacts to Bristol City move

On joining Bristol City, Brzycky said: “I’m thrilled to be at this amazing club and I’m excited to get to work.

“Everything is progressing in a positive way, and I think this is a good step for me.”

Head Coach Charlotte Healy believes the signing will strengthen competition within the squad and raise standards across the goalkeeping department.

She added: “Lauren is a very talented goalkeeper who will add to the quality and competition in our goalkeeper department.

“We are really looking forward to working with her and seeing her develop with us.”

Lauren Brzykcy’s career so far

Born in the United States, Brzykcy developed her game through the American college system. She played College Football for UCLA, a programme well known for producing players capable of competing at the highest level. Her performances there earned her the opportunity to take the next step in her professional career.

Following her time in college football, Brzykcy joined San Diego Wave. That move marked her progression into the professional game and allowed her to continue refining her skills in a competitive setting. Her career path has since taken her to Europe, with her recent spell in Sweden adding another chapter to her development as a goalkeeper

Brzykcy represents Hungary at international level. She earned her first cap in 2024 and has since established herself as the nation’s first-choice goalkeeper. That responsibility highlights her consistency and reliability, as well as her ability to perform on the international stage.

Her growing experience with Hungary adds further value to Bristol City, bringing exposure to international football and high-pressure situations that can only benefit the squad.

Bristol City are currently third in the WSL 2, five points behind leaders Birmingham City. The top two will automatically be promoted to the WSL, while the third-place team will face a playoff with the side that finishes bottom in the WSL.

This is due to the WSL’s expansion to 14 teams next season.
