José Mourinho has omitted Manu Silva and Bruma from Benfica’s squad to face Estrela da Amadora, a management decision based on fitness rather than injury. Both have returned to group training, but the coach feels they are not yet at the ideal level.

Manu is being reintegrated gradually after a long absence and, despite recent minutes, is still considered short of the demands, Record writes.

Bruma also misses out despite travelling with the team for recent engagements. The winger is not at 100% physically, and Mourinho prefers not to take risks with the schedule tightening.

The coach is preparing a few tweaks to the side that faced Juventus. Benfica know they cannot afford to drop further points if they are to stay in the chase for first place, currently led by Porto under Francesco Farioli.

Benfica play on Sunday, 25 January, in the 19th round of Liga Portugal Betclic, against João Nuno’s Estrela da Amadora. Kick-off is at 18:00 at Estádio da Luz.
