FC Koln are reportedly interested in Feyenoord target Rav van den Berg. The Middlesbrough defender was recently close to a transfer to Rotterdam, although things have remained quiet in recent days following the signing of Tsuyoshi Watanabe. The Germans may want to capitalise on this.

“There is continued uncertainty surrounding the future of Middlesbrough defender Van den Berg,” reports The Northern Echo. “He is attracting interest from Feyenoord and German side FC Koln.”

The British outlet point to Feyenoord’s previous attempts to lure the 21-year-old former PEC Zwolle player.

“Middlesbrough have rejected two bids from Feyenoord and haven’t yet reached an agreement with Cologne, but interest from Europe seems to be increasing.” Van den Berg was recently absent from Middlesbrough’s squad for the friendly against Rangers after “he sustained a back injury during the warm-up.”

Feyenoord identified Van den Berg as a defensive reinforcement in light of David Hancko’s departure and Thomas Beelen’s serious injury, but has reportedly put the deal on hold. It is unclear whether Van den Berg will still make a transfer to Rotterdam in the coming weeks. Tsuyoshi Watanabe has already done so. The Japanese player joined from KAA Gent.
