Whilst Arnaud Kalimuendo (23) has been heavily linked with a return to Ligue 1, the Nottingham Forest centre-forward could instead be heading to the Bundesliga, according to a report from Florian Plettenberg.

Kalimuendo’s move to Nottingham Forest is yet to prove a success. The France youth international has struggled for game time under Nuno Espirito Santo, then Ange Postecoglou, and now Sean Dyche. A January move is, therefore, on the cards for the former Stade Rennais and RC Lens forward.

A return to Ligue 1 had been touted. OGC Nice and Paris FC are among the interested parties, but an impending managerial change at the former could scupper their plans to recruit Kalimuendo. And all the while, a new option has emerged, Plettenberg understands.

The Frenchman has previously been considered by Eintracht Frankfurt and the possibility of him joining the German club has been opened up once more. There are now “concrete talks” ongoing, Plettenberg understands. He is now considered a serious option in the event that attempts to sign Newcastle United’s William Osula fail.
