Bunny Shaw on song as City put five past Spurs | OneFootball

A sunny day in Manchester brought three points for Manchester City as the Sky Blues eased past Tottenham Hotspur. Goals from Bunny Shaw and Kerolin, alongside an Amanda Nildén own goal saw the hosts returning to winning ways. Beth England and Olivia Holdt were on the scoresheet for Spurs as they put two past the league leaders.

How it went

An action packed opening 20 minutes got the game off to a nail-biting start. Bunny Shaw opened the scoring, finding the back of the net in a congested penalty area. It wasn’t long though until Spurs fired back with Olivia Holdt beating Khiara Keating from close range. Shaw struck again just moments later with a phenomenal header, rising above the penalty area. Not content with a brace, the Jamaican international then made it three in 20 minutes, finding the back of the net with a diving header. The goal marked the No.9’s fourth career hat-trick against Tottenham.

Following a quiet 15 minutes, Kerolin made it four to the hosts. The No.14 tapped home Lauren Hemp’s well weighted pass across the area. With just moments remaining of the first half, Vivianne Miedema appeared to lob the ball beyond the keeper to put City four ahead going in at the break. The goal, however, was quickly changed to an Amanda Nildén own goal after the Spurs No.6 turned the ball into her own net.

The second half started in a much quieter fashion than the first. Spurs undoubtedly had the better start, a far cry from their first half performance. There was little action throughout the half with both sides having half chances to add to the scoreline. It wasn’t until the 85th minute that Beth England bagged a second for the visitors, reducing the deficit to three.

Manchester City will travel to face Derby rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford as they continue their title charge. Andree Jeglertz’ side will then face Birmingham in the FA Cup Quarter finals.

Tottenham will face Arsenal in the North London Derby before a difficult FA Cup meeting with current holders Chelsea.
