Burnley have confirmed Scott Parker’s departure by mutual consent, one day before their trip to Leeds United. The club said in a statement that the change follows last week’s relegation confirmation.
Relegation was sealed after a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City. Mike Jackson will lead the Clarets on an interim basis, starting at Elland Road and for the remaining fixtures.
Burnley praised Parker’s contribution, noting last season’s record-breaking promotion from the Championship that featured a 31-match unbeaten run and 30 clean sheets. The process to appoint a permanent head coach for 2026/27 has begun.
Parker’s Premier League campaign yielded just four wins in 34 matches, one of them against Leeds in October.
Leeds, who host on Friday night, know victory would virtually guarantee top-flight safety. It will also be their second successive game against an interim coach after Chelsea dismissed Liam Rosenior before the FA Cup semi-final.
Calum McFarlane stepped in for Chelsea at Wembley and oversaw a 1-0 win over Leeds. Earlier this month, the Whites beat Manchester United 2-1 against temporary boss Michael Carrick.
