Burnley could appoint Steven Gerrard as their new manager, as Scott Parker faces an uncertain future at the club.
Parkertook charge of the Clarets in 2024, and led them to promotion from the Championship in his debut season.
However, he failed to keep the Lancashire side in the English top-flight, as their relegation was confirmed following Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Burnley are holding discussions over Parker’s future. If the 45-year-old leaves, Gerrard could be in contention for the managerial role.
Wales boss Craig Bellamy has also been linked, as he is highly regarded from his time as Vincent Kompany’s assistant.
Gerrard is considered one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players. He played a pivotal role in helping the Reds win the 2005 Champions League.
He hasn’t been successful as a manager, despite winning the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers in his first role.
The English boss was appointed as Aston Villa manager in November 2021, but lasted less than a year in the role.
Gerrard also failed to achieve anything significant in his next job at Al-Ettifaq and left by mutual consent in January last year.
He was linked with a return to Rangers following Russel Martin’s dismissal in October, but he rejected the opportunity.
Gerrard is now keen to return to the dugout and is open to the possibility of a Championship job.
