Wales manager Craig Bellamy is a frontrunner to replace Scott Parker as Burnley manager.

Parker has left Burnley by mutual consent following the club’s relegation from the Premier League. The Clarets have confirmed Michael Jackson will take interim charge until the conclusion of the campaign.

Former assistant Bellamy is among the favourites to succeed Parker. The 46-year-old has impressed in his first senior role with Wales, boasting a 44% win rate despite missing out on World Cup qualification. Bellamy previously worked as assistant to former Burnley manager Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor.

However, the BBC are reporting that Bellamy is content with Wales and has reservations over a rebuild at Burnley in the second tier next season.

Parker led Burnley to promotion last season but has been unable to keep the club in the top division. It’s a third career relegation for the 45-year-old as a manager. In a statement, he said it was the ‘right time’ to leave the club.

“It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years,” he said.

“I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction.

“I reflect back with great pride on what we achieved during my time at the club, especially our unforgettable promotion season in 2024-25, and it was a true honour to lead this team into the Premier League.”
