He has been training for the past two weeks with Primera Federación side Barakaldo under Imanol de la Sota. He considered moves abroad in the winter window but needed a final push to be ready.

He will spend several days training in Barcelona with the reserves, who need immediate impact out wide after a spate of injuries. Dani Rodríguez, from Astigarraga and born in 2005, suffered a knee injury against Barbastro a week ago.

Cabo previously featured under Ernesto Valverde in friendlies against Burgos and Udinese. After leaving Athletic he played for Sestao River and Lugo, and now aims to convince Barça Atlètic head coach Juliano Belletti.

Barakaldo are aware of his plan and have no commitment with him. A return there is not ruled out, with two squad places free after Víctor San Bartolomé joined Albacete following the payment of his clause.
