The second matchday in Group B of the CAF Champions League delivered a fiery spectacle in Rabat, where AS FAR hosted Al Ahly in a stadium brimming with tension. After a defeat in Tanzania against Young Africans, the Moroccans made their intentions crystal clear before kickoff: “We win or we win”—a statement that perfectly reflected the intensity they brought to the pitch. Their determination paid off when Mouhcine Bouriga opened the scoring in the 37th minute, but Trezeguet leveled for Al Ahly shortly after halftime, in the 68th minute.

But beyond the football, the match was overshadowed by a truly surreal moment. After several water bottles were hurled from the stands, a fan threw... a paint rake onto the pitch. Fortunately, no one was struck. As Al Ahly players tried to retrieve the object to show it to the officials, some AS FAR players attempted to hide it, sparking a mass altercation. Cameras caught the incident as a Moroccan player eventually concealed the item—too late to avoid controversy.

With less than a month to go until the 2025 AFCON hosted in Morocco, this incident raises serious concerns about the atmosphere that could surround the tournament. Al Ahly now plans to file an official complaint to CAF, challenging the refereeing but above all denouncing these excesses. On the sporting front, both Al Ahly and Young Africans have 4 points each, while JSK and AS FAR remain on 1 point.
