Callum Hudson-Odoi reignited his season with a standout display in Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 win over Tottenham, scoring twice and setting up the other. It underlined his status as the club’s senior winger after a difficult start.
According to NY Times, the 25-year-old arrived from Chelsea in September 2023 for £3million, rising to £5million. He assumed senior duties after Anthony Elanga’s £52million move to Newcastle and signed a three-year deal this summer. Before last weekend he had one league goal and no assists from six starts and eight substitute appearances.
Dyche, with Ian Woan and Steve Stone, has concentrated on fitness after a thigh issue and on sharper wide delivery. He says he enjoys working with Hudson-Odoi, who is smiling, working hard and progressing.
Against Tottenham he tapped in the opener after Ibrahim Sangare dispossessed Archie Gray on the edge of the box. He then cut inside from the left and his cross looped inside the far post. A low cut-back later gave Sangare the chance to crash in the third.
Forest channel much of their play down the left, with 42 per cent of attacking touches on that flank, a figure topped only by Bournemouth on 43 per cent. Hudson-Odoi’s cut-backs often suit Chris Wood, yet several chances have gone unconverted.
Hudson-Odoi remains a popular, hard-working presence and his team-mates celebrated his display. He credited Dyche with restoring connections in the squad after Ange Postecoglou’s chaotic 39 days, and said he hopes to go up another level this season.
