Callum Wilson surprises fans at Young Supporters Workshop | OneFootball

Hosted by the club's Supporter Services department, the workshop allowed the club to gain further insights into the matchday experience for fans aged 25 and under, as well as feedback on key areas such as ticketing and retail.

Kicking off the event was a surprise for the 100 attendees who attended at St. James' Park, and online, as Callum Wilson joined the session where he spoke about his experiences as a young football fan growing up, the importance of the home atmosphere and the team's ambitions for the rest of the season.

"I remember coming to St. James' Park as a Bournemouth player and the atmosphere was incredible when Newcastle scored - you remember that as an away player," explained Callum as he spoke to the attendees. "Now, getting to score goals in front of the Gallowgate End is really special and I love that feeling.

"Getting to meet the fans who back us every week with such passion is important and it was great to hear more on their love for the club. Getting to share my story and love for football with the group was great and the club having these type of events for young fans is really good to see and be part of."

Whilst a number of topics were discussed, the main talking points focused around matchday engagement and atmosphere, the growth of Newcastle United Women and attendances, as well as addressing any challenges faced by young fans. Feedback was collated by the club officials in attendance, and was noted to take to the club's executive team as well as the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) who meet with the club at least three times a season to discuss a number of strategic topics which can enhance supporter experiences.

The club's first ever Young Supporters Workshop was communicated via email to Mags members and was free to attend for fans aged 18-25.
