Poor Callum McFarlane has not had an easy time in his press conference since taking over as Chelsea caretaker.
The club is in crisis from top to bottom, and apart from his draw against Man City back in January and a win at Wembley, he’s only had bad results to talk about.
Yesterday was only a draw, but given it came at Anfield and on the back of six defeats, there was at least a little positivity. The performance was much improved from some recent matches, as were the effort levels.
Despite his team having done well, McFarlane thought they could have won the game.
“I think, probably being a little bit biased, I think we could have won the game,” the caretaker boss said at full time.
“We had some good moments. I remember Enzo’s chance in the first half, Cucurella getting into some really good areas, crossing areas, another marginal offside, another penalty shout that I thought, personally, I know it’s a tough job for officials, but I think that’s a clear penalty. So, yeah, arguably we could have come away with three points.”
Anyone who wants Xabi Alonso as Chelsea boss had a very positive week, although Fabrizio Romano has cooled the excitement a bit with his comments today.
Levi Colwill was asked about how it felt to come back having missed almost a full season, and he had some very heartfelt thanks for some of those people who had helped him.
