Camarda brace rescues Milan in 2-2 friendly draw against Celtic | OneFootball

Milan had fallen two goals behind in their pre-season friendly against Celtic on Saturday afternoon, but a second-half brace from teenage sensation Francesco Camarda ensured that the scores ended level at 2-2 in Glasgow.

The Rossoneri got their pre-season campaign underway with a visit to Scotland to take on reigning SPFL champions Celtic at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides are at different stages of their pre-season campaigns: This was Milan’s first stadium friendly of the summer, but it was the last for Celtic, who will begin their league campaign at home against Dundee next weekend.

Ruben Amorim was without several of his key first-team players, many of whom are still on holiday after their involvement at the 2026 World Cup. That meant no Luka Modric, no Adrien Rabiot, nor Rafa Leao, Christian Pulisic or new recruit Goncalo Ramos.

It was a mix of youth and experience on the field for Milan in Glasgow: There was a familiar back three of Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic with Zachary Athekame and Davide Bartesaghi at wing-back, but it was a blended midfield and attack that featured Samuele Ricci, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and teenagers Christian Comotto, Lorenzo Ossola and Andrej Kostic.

Amorim had Milan lined up in a 3-4-2-1 with Loftus-Cheek and Ossola playing behind 19-year-old Kostic at centre-forward.

Despite an encouraging spell of possession in the opening exchanges, Milan fell 1-0 behind after a hospital backpass from Pavlovic, which allowed Camilo Duran to sneak in and put the hosts in front in the 11th minute.

It was another sloppy backpass from Ricci in the 28th minute that put Celtic two goals to the good: Duran again capitalising on the mistake before squaring to James Forrest to finish off.

Amorim made wholesale changes at the interval, swapping eight players out and introducing Mario Gila, David Odogu, Filippo Terracciano, Samuel Chukwueze, Youssouf Fofana, Yunus Musah, Aurelien Guernier and 19-year-old Camarda. Lorenzo Torriani, Bartesaghi and Loftus-Cheek were the only three players to play beyond the 45th minute.

It took just two minutes for Milan to get themselves back into it: Camarda halving the deficit from the penalty spot in the 47th minute.

The teenager added his second of the afternoon within just seven minutes of his introduction, nodding home from the centre of the area after a decent ball in off the right flank from Chukwueze.

The biggest concern in the Milan camp is the injury that forced new signing Gila off just 23 minutes into his first Rossoneri run-out.

Camarda and Chukwueze stole the show in the post-match player ratings, while Pavlovic, Tomori, Ricci and Ossola were all rated at 5 or below by Milannews.it.
