FC Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano came with another encouraging sign off the pitch. The crowd at Spotify Camp Nou reached a new high for the season, with the highest turnout since the stadium underwent renovation.

According to Mundo Deportivo, 56,812 supporters were in attendance for the Rayo game, the biggest crowd Barca have had at the ground this season. That figure moved past the previous top marks set against Sevilla, with 56,483, and Newcastle, with 56,662.

The report adds that the opening of the Gol Nord has raised the current stadium capacity to 62,652. That expansion is clearly making a difference now, because Barcelona are no longer just bringing fans back gradually, they are pushing toward genuinely strong matchday numbers again.

What makes it slightly more striking is the kick-off time. 2pm is not a usual slot for Barca or for the home support at Spotify Camp Nou, yet the response was still excellent. For a team trying to rebuild its home fortress, that matters.

Earlier league crowds against Athletic, Alaves and Atletico were all around the 45,000 mark, while some European nights were lower. Now, with more sections open and the team continuing to win, the attendance has jumped sharply.

Barcelona have had an incredible home record since the start of the season in La Liga, irrespective of where they play but when it comes to the Camp Nou, they are yet to drop a single point across all competitions.

While the team may not have exactly put out a vintage display for everyone to enjoy, a near full capacity crowd turning up on a Sunday afternoon is yet another sign that the Camp Nou is desperate to provide the team with as much support as possible until the end of the season.
