Canada head coach Jesse Marsch has described new Juventus star Jonathan David as “an exceptional player”, before promising Bianconeri fans “you won’t be disappointed” by the talented forward.
Marsch’s Canada have just completed a mini-tour of Europe, winning friendly matches against Romania and Wales. David scored in the match against Romania, taking his tally as the nation’s all-time top scorer to 37 goals in 69 games.
David will now return to Turin, where he will prepare alongside his Juventus teammates for Saturday night’s Derby d’Italia clash against Inter.

Speaking about the Bianconeri’s summer signing, with quotes from TuttoSport, Marsch said “I think they, by signing him, have secured an exceptional player.” He described the forward as “very intelligent, able to play in different positions in attack, alone or in a pair with another striker.”
His praise the forward did not end there, describing the former Lille man as “a truly fantastic player and a top-class goalscorer,” claiming “I think Juventus got a great deal for him.”
Marsch was asked if the 25-year-old has what it takes to be top scorer in Serie A, to which he replied “He’ll certainly be able to score a lot of goals but let me also add that he is a very intelligent attacker defensively. He works hard for the team,” the coach continued, “and the team’s results are crucial to him. He’s someone who wants to win, he’s special!”
The former Leeds United head coach added that “I know Juventus want to return to the top of Serie A and having secured Jonathan David means they have a key asset to rely on.”

David was not the only Juventus player that the Canada coach had kind words for, also sparing a second to comment on Dusan Vlahovic.
“I also really like Vlahovic,” Marsch said, “he’s a strong striker. We wanted him at Leipzig but Fiorentina managed to steal him from us. But one thing is for sure… let’s just say you won’t be disappointed with Jonathan David.”
Interviewers also asked the coach his opinion on Saturday’s Derby d’Italia clash between Juventus and Inter, to which he replied “It will definitely be an interesting match. I’m also a Juventus fan now since the Bianconeri bought David and Inter sold Tajon Buchanan, so I’ll be rooting for my player.”
