The new Serie A Women season is set to begin, and our Juventus Women's First Team kick things off away at Sassuolo on Saturday - exactly where their title-winning campaign began a year ago. Kick-off on Saturday is set for 18:30 CEST.
With silverware already clinched this season in the form of the inaugural Serie A Women's Cup, coach Massimiliano Canzi spoke ahead of the Bianconere's trip to Emilia-Romagna.
"As expected, the Serie A Women’s Cup has shown us that every match is tough and will continue to be throughout the season. We’ve played four games and, aside from maybe the one against Napoli, which immediately went our way, all of them could have gone either way. This shows that the level is definitely high. The competitiveness of this league keeps increasing. So I’d say that’s the main lesson we’ve learned."
"The depth of our squad is vital, especially when we have a game every three days and full recovery between matches is nearly impossible. It becomes essential to carefully assess who is fresh, and to make the most of all available energy, taking things game by game.
“Having so many players of the same level available can make a real difference during such intense periods, like the one we're about to start tomorrow with five matches in 16 days. We’re happy to be starting this stretch of games with a full squad."
"Tomorrow's match will be against a team that did well in the Serie A Women’s Cup group stage, even if they didn’t manage to qualify for the Final Four. They have a new coach [Alessandro Spugna] who has proven his level over the years and will undoubtedly improve the team.
“We’re prepared for a tough match. And of course, we know very well that every team who play against Juventus, especially with the Scudetto on our chest, gives more than 100%. That’s how it’s going to be this year. There will be no easy matches, and the players are fully aware of that."
