The Juventus Women’s First Team are set to return to action after the calendar year’s first international break, and focus immediately turns to the Women’s Italian Cup semi-final first leg against Fiorentina. The Bianconere are on the road in Tuscany for the first leg, with kick-off locked in for 18:00 CET on Wednesday, 11 March.
Ahead of the trip to Florence, Bianconere boss Massimiliano Canzi shared his thoughts.
“For a team of our level, with a lot of internationals in the squad, every international break requires for careful management. The girls have played important games, and intense ones, and the recovery time is always limited. It’s a challenge that we accept with open arms, and it’s a reflection of the quality we have in our ranks.”
“Tomorrow we’ll go out there to play what is effectively a ‘first half’ of the tie, which will be 180 minutes in all. Fiorentina are a really high-level opponent who, as far as I’m concerned, have fewer points than they deserve to have this season. In the Cup they’ve shown their level and we know that we’ll need to be at our very best if we want to reach the final.”
“The group has undergone some changes of late, with a lot of very important players for this club’s history taking other paths. So, in that context, Martina’s renewal is priceless for us. It’s a sign of continuity that Juventus wants to give - Martina represents the spirit of this club, she’s a fundamental reference point for the coming years.”
