Captain’s Call: Van Dijk Ignites Liverpool’s Champions League Night With Powerful Message
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk's called on supporters to create special atmosphere at Anfield tonight when the Reds host Atletico Madrid in their Champions league.
The Dutch defender stressed the importance of the competition to the Merseyside club reminding fans of Liverpool’s long history with the tournament.
"This competition means a lot to everyone connected to the club, We want to add more special moments in the weeks ahead" he told the club’s official website.
Van Dijk acknowledged the challenge that awaits highlighting Diego Simeone’s team as 1 of Europe’s most consistent sides.
"They've world class coach & top players. It won't be easy at all" he said.
The 33 year old concluded with rallying cry to the Anfield faithful:
"We need you at your very best. Your support's made the difference many times before in this competition. Let’s make Anfield place no European side wants to visit"
