Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba has been speaking to Manchester United players about a possible summer transfer to Old Trafford, according to the Sun.
United have had the 22-year-old Cameroon international on their radar since last summer and could revive interest in him this year.
Baleba spoke to Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha about it after their Premier League game on the final day of the season.
The Seagulls star knows Man United defender Leny Yoro from their time at Lille and would likely have been talking to him about a reunion.
Baleba is friends with fellow Cameroonian international stars Bryan Mbeumo and Andre Onana.
Onana urged the midfielder to join the Old Trafford club last summer, but Man United never made any concrete move for him and did not submit an official offer.
Baleba agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and will not hesitate to join them if they can agree a deal with Brighton.
However, it appears manager Michael Carrick has other options in mind, with West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes the top midfield target.
Talks are ongoing with his representatives, with his wages and transfer fees being discussed.
West Ham want £85 million to sell the 21-year-old Portugal international, and it is unclear whether Man United will splash the cash on him.
Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson is another option for the Red Devils, but Manchester City are expected to sign him.
A move for Baleba looks to be off the table, with Atalanta’s Ederson closing in on a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
