Carlos Espi became Real Madrid’s fifth signing of the summer, with Los Blancos roping him in from Levante by paying his €25 million release clause.
The transfer to Real Madrid was completed remarkably quickly, in a matter of hours in fact, and his agent, Pep Serer, has now explained how the deal unfolded and why it was impossible to turn down.
Speaking to Radio MARCA, Serer described the move as the reward for years of hard work by the 21-year-old striker.
Serer highlighted Espi’s determination throughout his development at Levante, where he chose to fight for his place rather than seek an easier path elsewhere.

“He’s been through some tough times, managed to carve out a place in the starting eleven and started scoring goals. I’m immensely proud of him and of everything he still has to achieve,” he said.
Several Premier League clubs, along with teams from Italy and Portugal, had shown interest in Espi during the summer.
However, Serer admitted that everything changed the moment Real Madrid entered the race.
“When Real Madrid come calling, there’s no doubt about it. It’s a very distinguished club and yesterday they showed us spectacular warmth,” he said.
According to the agent, the professionalism and respect shown by Los Blancos played a decisive role in the player’s immediate decision.
Serer emphasised that Espi arrives at Real Madrid fully aware of the challenge ahead and without unrealistic expectations.
Rather than expecting immediate stardom, the young forward is focused on improving every day while learning from some of the world’s best players.
“He knows exactly what his role is. He’s incredibly hungry for success; he knows his strengths and his weaknesses. He wants to improve every day,” he explained.
For supporters unfamiliar with Espi, his agent described a forward who combines physical presence, relentless work rate and a strong mentality.
According to Serer, Espi is the type of striker who never stops fighting, attacks every cross and loose ball, and has the ability to change tight matches after coming off the bench.
“He’s a footballer who never stops fighting, who goes for every ball and who can break the deadlock in tight matches. He’ll bring a lot to Real Madrid,” he concluded.
