Grêmio beat Botafogo 5-3 at the Arena do Grêmio to rise from 17th to seventh in the Brasileirão.
In the 17th minute Arthur Cabral put Fogão ahead, but Carlos Vinícius levelled (26.) before Danilo restored the visitors' lead (36.).
After the restart, Francis Amuzu's cross found Vinícius for a glancing header (50.). A handball by Alex Telles brought a penalty, which Vinícius converted for his treble (57.). Moments later, Tetê finished Amuzu's cut-back (60.), and Jordan Barrera struck the post as Fogão pushed back (62.).
Edenilson added a fifth from close range (79.), before Danilo's late reply kept the game alive (86.).
Amuzu's introduction at half time tilted the momentum for the Tricolor Gaúcho, with the winger supplying two assists and stretching the away defence.
The Tricolor Gaúcho registered eight shots on target from 14 attempts. Fogão finished with 56.6% possession.
Next, the Tricolor Gaúcho host Novo Hamburgo in the Gaúcho. Fogão visit Vasco da Gama in the Carioca next.
