Carolin Simon will leave FC Bayern Women after seven successful years to join Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season. The 33-year-old moved to Munich from Lyon in summer 2019 and has since won five Bundesliga titles, the DFB Cup and two domestic Supercups with Bayern. There will be a fitting farewell for Caro at the end of the season.

Rech: ‘Deeply grateful to Caro for her commitment and passion’

Bianca Rech, FC Bayern director of women’s football: “During her seven years at Bayern, Caro has been an incredibly important part of our team and has played a key role in the great success of recent years. On the pitch, she led by example and created many crucial moments for us with her proverbial magic left foot. Off the pitch, she inspired the whole team with her open-hearted nature and sense of humour. In the coming weeks, we want to give it our all together once again to finish the season as successfully as possible. We’re deeply grateful to Caro for her commitment and passion whilst wearing the Bayern jersey and wish her all the very best for the future.”

Simon: ‘My years here will remain very special to me’

Carolin Simon: “When I look back over the past few years, I remember so many moments that have made me proud and happy to be part of this team. It’s simply amazing what we’ve built up – from the smaller crowds at the FC Bayern Campus to the highlights at the Allianz Arena and the hundreds of fans who now travel with us to away games. Bayern, the team, the staff and the city have been my home; I lived for this club and felt the ‘Mia san mia’ spirit both on and off the pitch. This team, this club and these fans are something very special; we’ve experienced a very intense period with its ups and downs. The journey isn’t over yet, even though I won’t be an active part of it from next season onwards. My years here will always remain very special to me. I’ll miss you all very much.”
