Carrick ‘hopeful’ Man Utd star can play against Liverpool | OneFootball

Michael Carrick says he is hopeful that Matheus Cunha will be able to feature against Liverpool on Sunday.

The forward missed the win over Brentford on Monday with a hip issue but Carrick says he is optimistic that the Brazilian can return against United’s fierce rivals.

“We’re in good shape really,” Carrick said.

“Matheus has done a little bit of work, so we’re hopeful. We’re not sure but we’re hopeful.”

However, Mathjis de Ligt is still not ready to return having been sidelined since December with a back problem.

“Matta is still a little bit further [off] and not involved in the game,” added the boss. “But, other than that, we’re in good shape.”
