Michael Carrick says he is hopeful that Patrick Dorgu was forced off in the win over Arsenal with cramp, and has not suffered a muscle injury.
Dorgu scored a stunning second for his side before Matheus Cunha grabbed a late winner to secure a second victory on the bounce for Carrick since taking over at the club until the end of the season.
And the United boss was delighted with the Denmark international again, having also been impressed in the win over Manchester City.
“Patrick’s been a big player for us over the last couple of games,” he said. “I think in so many ways.
“Attacking wise, obviously he’s scored two goals but in terms of his threat and his athleticism, his quality coming in as well and his connections.
“Defensively he’s been immense as well, down the side with Luke and doubling up against two teams that ask a lot of questions down the sides so it’s a big, big job for him.
“Delighted for him, because the two goals he scored are completely different goals but you get that because he’s put so much into the performance.
“It’s nice to see him smiling and happy.”
But Carrick is now hoping the winger is not forced to endure a spell out with injury after coming off in the second half.
“Obviously he came off with, hopefully, a little bit of cramp,” he said. “Hopefully it’s nothing worse.
“But that just shows you what he’s put in to the performance.
“Absolutely delighted for him, just hope it’s not too bad.
“At this stage it’s hard to tell. We’ll just have to wait and see but for sure we’re hoping that it’s not too bad.”
Carrick also hailed match winner Cunha for his attitude despite being disappointed not to start either of the last two games.
“Matheus came on and had a big impact like he did again last week, creating the goal,” he said.
“I just fancied him to score and it was a fantastic finish and it kind of epitomises as a group what we’ve been like this week.
“Matheus has not started both games but he’s had a real big impact. He’s been disappointed not to start but he’s used it in a really good way. Two huge moments and he totally deserves that winning goal, for how he’s applied himself all week, and I’m absolutely delighted for him.”
