Casadei: from Chelsea to Italy national team in 41 days | OneFootball

Former Chelsea talent Cesare Casadei has earned his first Italy call-up only 41 days after completing a permanent Torino transfer.

The Inter academy product joined Torino on February 2, 2025, for a reported €15m transfer fee.

Casadei has become an immediate starter under Paolo Vanoli, collecting 327 minutes of football and scoring one goal, his first-ever in Serie A, in five appearances.

Italy CT Luciano Spalletti already praised Casadei in January 2024 when the promising midfielder was still playing for Leicester City in the English Championship.

Casadei had played a key role for Italy in the U20 World Cup a few months earlier when he was named the best player in the tournament and won the Golden Boot.

As reported by Tuttosport, Casadei has been playing for Torino for just 41 days, but it was enough to earn his first Italy call-up.

He had been struggling for playing time at Chelsea, making just six appearances, none in the Premier League, under Enzo Maresca.

The 22-year-old central midfielder could make his senior Italy debut against Germany in the Nations League quarter-finals next week.
