The performance of big-money signings such as Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Casemiro were also a major letdown.

The Brazilian‘s influence has begun to wane in recent weeks, and even though he completed 90 minutes against Wolves, he was a major liability with and without the ball.

His current deal expires next summer, and even though Amorim likes him, INEOS are keen to trim the wage bill.

MLS clubs are eyeing him on a Bosman transfer, while the Red Devils are in no hurry to offer him a new deal on reduced terms as there is no concrete proposal to deal with at present.

However, as per The Daily Mail, the 20-time English league champions might not even offer him, and Harry Maguire, another veteran whose contract is up in the summer, that new deal.

If United would have wanted, they would have offered the duo new contracts by now. But this delay only strengthens the notion that this might be their final seasons in Manchester.

As for Casemiro, United are already planning a revamp with multiple targets on the radar.

Whether United can sign a new centre-back and midfielder in the winter remains to be seen. They have identified both short-term and long-term options and now, INEOS will take the final call.
