Kerstin Casparij is looking to build on the momentum she and the team have created this season after scoring a crucial goal in City’s 3-2 win at home to Arsenal.
The Dutch international teed up Bunny Shaw for the opening goal with a stunning cross, albeit that opening goal came against the run of play, but it did set the Blues up for a positive first-half display.
Casparij then went one step further in an attacking sense by scoring in the second half after she reacted quickest in the six-yard box following Arsenal’s inability to clear the ball, which set off wild celebrations on the pitch.
City’s attacking defender has her sights firmly set on increasing her threat in the final third as she looks to build upon solid relationships with her strong teammates. “It was an eventful game, but they’re the most fun ones.
"I feel like we’re all just clicking right now, and we’ve got such a driven squad. “I am loving it at the minute [playing in Andree Jeglertz’s system] and I’ve set myself a clear target for goals and assists, and it’s going well so far, so I’d say I’m on track.
“I just want to keep the momentum going and continue to work on my relationships with our attackers, especially Bunny, and I hope to assist many more goals.”
Throughout the 90 minutes, it was City who took the lead on three separate occasions, including a late winner from Iman Beney.
City’s Switzerland international netted her first goal for the club in the 88th minute, and despite the downpour of rain in Manchester, Beney did not let that impact her celebrations.
Casparij highlighted the importance of City’s deep squad this season and how everyone.
But in particular, players coming off the bench will be crucial to any success they taste, and was delighted to see Beney get on the scoresheet.
She added: “We all know that the girls starting on the bench are going to be our game changers and our finishers.
“If we want to be successful throughout the season, it’s going to be the girls who come off the bench and might not always play who will finish games off for us.
“For her (Iman Beney) to come on in a game like today when it’s up and down and we were struggling at times, to put the goal away like she did and celebrate the way she did, she deserves it because she works so hard and is such a bright talent who I’m so pleased for her."
