Castellón to host Spain v Iceland in 2027 Women’s World Cup qualifier

Castellón will host the Spain women’s national team against Iceland in a 2027 Women’s World Cup qualifier on Tuesday three March at Estadio SkyFi Castalia.
The city’s sports councillor, Maica Hurtado, announced the fixture at a press conference, stressing the significance of welcoming another top-level event.
Spain, coached by Sonia Bermúdez, begin the qualifying campaign aiming for a positive start as they pursue a second world title.
The match marks Spain’s debut in Group A3, which also includes England and Ukraine alongside Iceland.
Iceland will base themselves in Castellón for around 10 days, with close to 100 players, coaches and federation staff expected for a preparation camp.
Local officials anticipate sporting, social and economic benefits, enhancing the city’s profile for training camps and international events. Hurtado credited sustained work in recent years, citing improved facilities and organisation, and reflected on the successful staging of the Supercopa de España and its accompanying activities.
