Actor and producer Cauã Reymond says he used Flamengo’s 5-0 win over Grêmio at the Maracanã as research for the fiction series Jogada de Risco.
The Copa Libertadores semi-final first leg finished 1-1. In Rio, Flamengo overwhelmed the visitors 5-0, at one point prompting Grêmio players to ask their opponents to ease off. Flamengo advanced and went on to lift the title.
"I was studying for Jogada de Risco. I had never been to the Maracanã. A friend, a football agent, invited me to Grêmio versus Flamengo, the 2019 Libertadores semi. Grêmio were 4-0 down," he said on Charla Podcast.
"Soon 70,000 people started chanting, 'Hey, Renato, f*** off'. The coach had been sitting, then he stood up, went to the touchline, folded his arms and stared."
"I went to study. I wanted to see the scene, the boxes, how people behind the scenes dressed, because the football we already know."
"I wanted to see the shirts and trainers, who was cocky and who was not, who was posing and who had quiet power. That really interests me in drama, there are many archetypes there."
Jogada de Risco features only fictional clubs, including Atlântico Futebol e Regatas, Rio state champions in black and gold, colours that recall Peñarol of Uruguay.
