The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) held an institutional agenda in Natal this Thursday (12) to strengthen the partnership and development of football in Rio Grande do Norte. The executive director of management of the entity, Helder Melillo, had meetings at the federation's headquarters and visited the Arena das Dunas, where he explored the facilities of one of the arenas that hosted the 2014 World Cup.
He was accompanied by the five-time champion Edmilson, CBF vice-president José Vanildo, and the acting president of the North Rio Grande Federation of Football (FNF), Felipe Silva.
In one of CBF's efforts to closely understand the reality of each state, the director listened to the demands and learned about the federation's planning and organization. In a subsequent event, he met with affiliated clubs, in a conversation focused on the working group discussing improvements in the model of athlete training in Brazil's youth football categories. The working group will have Melillo as the rapporteur and is chaired by Felipe Silva.
“This closeness with the federation and the clubs is fundamental for us to understand local demands and build joint solutions. The working group on athlete training plays an important role in this process. The CBF has increased investments in youth categories and, within this process, we will also revisit the calendar to evaluate adjustments that strengthen the development of Brazilian football,” highlighted Melillo.
“The formation of an athlete goes far beyond what happens on the field. Family support is crucial to guide young people in this process. Therefore, initiatives like the working group, in conjunction with the federations, are so important because they bring together different perspectives to create an increasingly better environment for the development of our talents,” added Edmilson, recently called up for the CBF team.

In the working group, Rio Grande do Norte is represented by Quinho Football Club (QFC), an association founded in November 2023 and based in Parnamirim, and by Santa Cruz, a club from December 1965 based in Natal. Internally, the clubs will organize to form a group that will gather the demands and suggestions of Potiguar football and present them to the working group.
“The mobilization of clubs is fundamental for us to build proposals that truly represent the reality of football. When clubs organize and present joint suggestions to the working group, the debate becomes more qualified, and the solutions tend to be more effective for strengthening youth categories,” emphasized CBF vice-president José Vanildo.
“The working group was structured to gather different experiences and perspectives on athlete training in Brazil. The participation of about 100 qualified professionals, from clubs, federations, and specialists, shows the importance and scope of this debate. The idea is to build consistent proposals, listening to those who live the day-to-day of youth categories, to advance in the development of our training categories,” commented Felipe Silva, president of the working group.
In addition to Rio Grande do Norte, the CBF has already conducted institutional visits to the states of Piauí, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia, Espírito Santo, and Sergipe.
